While using the platform, we collect:

• Answers to the detailed questionnaire including health, habits, preferences, personality, and goals.
• Photos and ID documents for identity verification (used exclusively for checking).
• Technical and access information such as email, IP address, country, and social login data.
• Approximate location (city or country) provided during registration and updatable by the user. Precise or real-time GPS location is never collected.
• Usage data including clicks, interaction history, and access times for performance improvement and abuse detection.

Providing sensitive data is optional, and profile visibility may be limited based on user settings. Processing of optional sensitive data requires explicit user consent and is solely for enhancing match relevance.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to provide a secure and personalized experience, including:

• Generating profile suggestions based on statistical and scientific models.
• Authenticating user identity and verifying age.
• Preventing fraud, abuse, or illegal activity.
• Moderating reported content.
• Ensuring system security and continuous service improvement.

Aggregated or anonymized data may also be used internally to refine algorithms without impacting users directly.

3. Legal Grounds for Processing

Data is processed under:

• Consent: For optional sensitive data and cookies/tracking agreements.
• Contractual necessity: To provide matchmaking services and manage accounts.
• Legitimate interest: For platform security, fraud prevention, and service improvement.
• Legal obligation: When required by applicable law.

4. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell personal data. Sharing occurs only with trusted third-party providers under confidentiality agreements:

• Stripe – payment processing.
• Didit – identity verification (data retained up to 6 months active + 12 months archived for legal/fraud purposes).
• Here – approximate location data.
• Azure and AWS – cloud hosting and validation of user data.

California residents may opt out of sharing via our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. Users in EU or Brazil may exercise rights via account settings or by contacting legal@modern-matchmaker.com.

5. Cookies, Tracking, and Advertising

We use first- and third-party cookies for analytics, performance, and personalized experiences. No personally identifiable information is collected without consent. Cookie preferences can be managed in browser settings.

Apple ATT compliance: Behavioral tracking requiring ATT consent is not performed on Apple devices. Analytics are aggregated and non-identifiable.

6. Data Storage and Security

Data is securely stored on Microsoft Azure cloud servers. Primary storage is in the US; replication may occur to ensure stability and availability.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access controls, monitoring, and best practices are applied. Highly sensitive data (full payment info, real-time GPS) is never stored beyond processing needs. Stripe may retain minimal payment data to comply with legal obligations.

Users are responsible for account credentials and reporting suspicious activity.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Users can delete accounts and request removal of their data at any time. Once deleted, data is removed from main databases. Certain information may be retained in an isolated system up to 6 months for legal, fraud prevention, or compliance reasons, then permanently deleted or anonymized.

8. Privacy Rights

Users may access, correct, delete, restrict processing, object to processing, request data portability, withdraw consent, and not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing. Rights vary by jurisdiction (GDPR, LGPD, CCPA/CPRA). Users may request data sharing information or lodge complaints.

9. Age Restrictions and Verification

Users must be 18 or older. Identity verification is mandatory before any interaction. Attempting to bypass age verification may result in permanent account suspension.

10. Content Moderation and Legal Requests

Profiles may be reviewed by automated or human moderation. Data may be preserved or shared with authorities if legally required. Moderation actions are documented for transparency and accountability.

11. Policy Updates and Compliance

This policy may be updated periodically. Material changes will be notified, and consent may be renewed if legally required. We comply with GDPR, LGPD, CCPA/CPRA, and other applicable laws.
